Ensuring safe working environment at all levels

Why it matters

According to ILO estimates, 2.3 million workers die every year from work-related injuries and diseases.

The health of workers is a major determinant of productivity. Health problems can also lead to discrimination against workers or result in major expenditures for enterprises. A vicious circle of poor health, reduced working capacity, low productivity and shortened life expectancy is a typical outcome in the absence of social interventions addressing the underlying problems of irregular and low quality employment, low pay and the lack of social protection.

What we do

Plant, Equipment & Machine Safety

The industrial counterpart of occupational health & safety is Plant, Equipment & Machine safety. These are mostly exclusive to manufacturing industries, and are also a part of legislative compliance. To keep your plant’s work environment safe for workers, and to increase the efficiency and life of your industrial assets, complying with the legislative guidelines for Plant, Equipment & Machine safety is a mandate.
The key aspects of machine or equipment safety are safety from mechanical hazards, non-mechanical hazards, and access hazards. The entire procedure involves system framework development, application and maintenance, risk assessment and mitigation, responsibility distribution, and development and maintenance of suitable monitoring and verification system.
EWX works with your organisation on a grassroot level to identify areas for development, understand your workforce and functionally distributing responsibility among them, create and maintain a suitable M&V framework, and help you comply with relevant legislation.

EWX advises the organisations to mitigate the following types of safety risks:

  • Electrical Safety Risks
  • Mechanical Safety Risks
  • Fire & Chemical Hazards Risks
  • Behavioral Safety Risks

OHSAS (ISO 45001)

Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) and ISO 45001, both are safety management systems for organisations to analyse occupational safety and mitigate risks, comply with native legislations, and find area for improvement of work environment. Majority governments make either OHSAS or ISO 45001 a legislation for the industries to follow.
While ISO 14001 concentrates on managing a company’s external environment for regulatory compliance and reduced pollution, OHSAS 18001 strives to ensure safety internally in the workplace by getting both workers and management involved in risk reduction. These can also mostly be used interchangeably unless some particular mutually exclusive concerns are to be addressed.
EWX has a decade long experience in conducting OHSAS 18001 or ISO 45001 audits for our clients to achieve relevant certification, legislative compliance, as well as subsequent benefits like recognition at administrative levels, greater ease of doing business, employee satisfaction, process enhancements, and so on.
